At the American Business School of Paris, our academic system is built around the central role of the learner within the educational system. Everything is thought out according to the learner and his needs, in the name of the pedagogy of encouragement and the success that characterizes our school. Professional development is an integral part of our educational program to enable our students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for their employability.
professional development
Professional development is an integral part of a learner’s roadmap to graduation. For this, at ABSParis, we have developed many initiatives with the business world in order to strengthen the professional experience of our students and prepare them for the job market: professional conferences, case studies, Company Case Challenges , internships and part-time jobs, etc.
In France, the legislation places the end-of-study internship at the heart of the academic prerequisites for obtaining the diploma. In the United States, we are in a framework where we obtain the diploma and then do the internship. Hence the names of the 2025 promotions for those who return in September 2021: it is guaranteed to obtain the diploma in 4 years and to be in the 2025 cohort.
In France, the notion of promotion takes on its full meaning when the professionalization process is integrated into the academic curriculum and when the internship comes to sanction the years of study and preparation for employability (cf. the activities which form the professional development Consequently, graduating with the same class of departure or the one after is a detail with regard to the challenges of professional development and end-of-study internships (increasingly difficult to obtain) which should then lead to a job. (that’s the goal anyway)
It would be unthinkable for an academic program in Management to be created without considering the expectations of companies. Although training in management, marketing, finance, etc. are technical, the fact remains that the skills and objectives targeted must integrate a process of construction and professional development in order to meet the expectations of companies.
If the job market in the United States remains quite flexible and varied (which explains the choice of universities to leave the internship after graduation), learners in France are facing more and more challenges to get the professional opportunity. which will allow them to validate their training and enter the business world. Without “professionalising” actions integrated into their curriculum, the task would prove to be even more difficult, if not impossible.
The multicultural diversity at the American Business School of Paris is undeniably a unique richness. However, it appeared necessary for the team in charge of professional development and relations with companies to innovate and find new ways to support non-French-speaking learners towards employment . Thus, the team has explored and set up experiences, partnerships and professional development activities outside of France: European Union, India, etc.
We have a career site and an international platform to facilitate access to internship and job offers in France and abroad for our students ( Career Platform in partnership with JobTeaser, iAgora)
The difficulty of integrating students into companies is far from being overcome. Without professional development, with all the activities that make it up and the support that allows the learner to assimilate it, we would find ourselves in a dead end. Academic training alone is no longer enough: professional development, integrated into the curriculum, becomes beneficial.
